Michael Jackson walks with kids Prince and Paris through a studio parking lot in Los Angeles

We widen our scope of coverage for a moment to acknowledge what appears to be a major national news story: The body of Michael Jackson has finally died.

Let’s be honest, people.  Michael Jackson has been dead since roughly 1987 when the freak show, alien circus animals took over his body.

When any one dies it is a sad thing.  But I am perplexed at the coverage this is getting.

Without a doubt, Jackson was a talented singer and dancer. I owned the Thriller album and like any kid of the 80’s loved the video.  But why does singing and dancing entitle someone wall to wall news coverage?

The real Michael Jackson disappeared never to return many, many years ago.  Perhaps now, those of us who have fond memories of the real MJ can remember his legacy without the day to day reminder of the poor, pathetic creature he became.
